Alexander F. Scherbatyuk received the Eng. degree in automatic control systems from Moscow Physical Technical Institute in 1981, the Candidate of Sciences degree in physics and mathematics from Moscow State University in 1985 and the Doctor of Sciences degree in technical sciences from Institute of Automation and Control Processes of Far East Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences in 1993. In 2006 he was elected in the Russian Academy of Sciences as Corresponding Member.
His main area of research connected with designing of some on-board versions of integrated navigation system for AUV based on board autonomous navigation system and additional acoustical, visual and bathymetric data. He designed some on-board versions of technical vision system for AUV used information from digital video and scan sonar systems for AUV docking and extended objects inspection.
Last years Dr. Alexander Scherbatyuk was head in TSL and MMT AUV projects (2005). Later he was head in designing of new series small size AUV MARK (2011) and marine autonomous robotic complex including AUV and ASV (2013). He led operations with AUV in areas of Arctic, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
Dr. Alexander Scherbatyuk is author and coauthor of 142 scientific publications and three textbooks. He is a member of associate editors of four scientific journals. Currently he is Director of Scientific Education Center for Underwater Robotics in the Far Eastern Federal University and Head of Laboratory in the Institute for Marine Technology Problems /IMTP/ of Far East Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences.
