Kasatkin Boris Anatolyevich, Doctor of physics and mathematics, professor, Head of the Hydroacoustic Navigating Systems Laboratory in the Institute for Marine Technology Problems of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

He is the specialist in the field of the theoretical and applied acoustics, one of the pioneers of development and application of AUV (autonomous underwater vehicles) hydroacoustic navigating systems (HANS). Medium and long- range HANS models were designed and proved under his supervision.

Kasatkin is the author of more than 300 scientific publications, and the co-author of 10 monographies, two manuals and over 70 patents.

A large cycle of works is devoted to research of broadband piezo transducers, research of transient processes in piezo transducers, and piezocomposites theories.

Another cycle of works is devoted to the theory of normal and generalized normal waves in the liquid wave guides loaded on semi-space, the theory of the directed radiation (reception) in hydro-acoustic wave guides, and to research of invariant structure of sound fields with reference to the decision of applied problems of hydro-acoustic navigation.
